SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (AP) -- More than 1,000 women are gathering in South Portland to swim, bike and run to raise money in the fight against cancer in Maine.
The Maine Cancer Foundation's Tri for a Cure is billed as the state's only all-women's triathlon, where participants swim one-third of a mile, bike 15 miles and run 3.1 miles along a course through South Portland and Cape Elizabeth. Thousands more spectators are expected at Sunday morning's event.
Now in its sixth year, the event hopes to raise more than $1 million.
