What technological changes shaped the lives of the baby-boomers (today aged 50 or 65) in ways different from the lives of their parents?

It was only with the increasing incomes of the post WWII boom that the majority of households had a phone. That is other than TV it was the higher incomes of their families that made the biggest difference when they were growing up..
