??Now we are living in a small ? global country? because the rapid development of computers and the internet. And we can hardly live without it now. But there is something that cannot be ignored ?computer security. So we should pay more attention to it.

? There are so many risks online that you need to be aware of ? viruses, spyware, worms, identity theft and so on. The cost of these risks is rising day by day. And the cost of cleaning up the damage done by all these cyber threats. It?s about $100 billion per year. It is not good to be online without some kind of virus and firewall protection, unless you want to be a victim of it. So some basic ways should be done to protect your computer:

? 1: have your Windows updated. Defaulting your Windows should be able to update itself or at least tell you when to update. Missing one critical Windows update can be enough to leave your computer wide open to be attacked.

? 2: avoid opening any e-mail attachments or unknown programs. Do not open it while you do not know whether it is a virus or not. So you can hide it.

? 3: adjust your browser security level to make sure that it?s Medium or Medium-High. This isn?t a total solution to web based security threats but it?s usually enough to keep pop-ups and low level security threats at bay.

? 4: some people even suggest that do not open the e-mails or the messages sent by the person who you do not know. But what if the person you do not know sent you a very important message, such as job-hunting? I mean it is very important. And you cannot make sure that a person you know may not send you virus.
